Polygon Chain ID 137 – Complete Network Reference
Chain ID 137 is the unique numeric identifier for the Polygon PoS mainnet. Every transaction signed on Polygon includes this chain ID to prevent replay attacks on other EVM networks. When configuring any wallet or developer tool, use Chain ID 137 for mainnet operations.
Complete Polygon Mainnet Parameters
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Chain ID (Decimal) | 137 |
| Chain ID (Hex) | 0x89 |
| Network Name | Polygon Mainnet |
| Native Token | POL (formerly MATIC) |
| RPC URL | https://polygon-rpc.com |
| Block Explorer | https://polygonscan.com |
| Consensus | Proof of Stake (PoS) |
| Block Time | ~2 seconds |
Why Chain ID Matters
Without the correct Chain ID, your wallet will reject connections to the Polygon network. If you mistakenly use Chain ID 1 (Ethereum) when you intend to transact on Polygon, your tokens will remain on Ethereum mainnet and you will pay significantly higher gas fees.
Testnet Chain ID
The Polygon Amoy testnet uses Chain ID 80002. This testnet is used for development and testing purposes. Test POL tokens on Amoy hold no real-world value and can be obtained from the official Polygon faucet.
Adding Chain ID 137 to wallets
Any EVM-compatible wallet – MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Rabby, Rainbow, or Frame – can connect to Polygon using Chain ID 137. Simply navigate to the custom network section, input the parameters from the table above, and save. Your existing Polygon network address will immediately become accessible on the network.
